Romantic Fairytale Hazlewood Castle Wedding


When Angelique & Lee first reached out to me they told me how they wanted a classical and "old-fashioned" wedding and that they loved a timeless and natural style of photography. They explained how they were looking for an unposed and natural approach to create a final gallery that looks like it could of been taken directly from Pride and Prejudice.


Hazlewood Castle really was the perfect venue for this and they were so right when they had originally described it as their fairytale wedding location. Hazlewood Castle is a stunning historic castle dating back around 900 years with a beautiful little chapel that even has the original wooden door with a huge key to unlock it (full fairytale vibes!)


Angelique & Lee had their ceremony in the chapel, which they then excited for their confetti throw with the backdrop of the beautiful trees surrounding the St Leonard's Chapel entrance. This backdrop was also the perfect location for their family & friends group photographs whilst their guests enjoyed canapes and Aperol Spritz to celebrate and mingle in the sun.


For the reception they moved inside the castle to the Great Hall a spectacular south facing room overlooking beautiful views of rolling fields. This room is truly special with large marble columns, a dramatic fireplace and statues surrounding the room. This room was the setting for their speeches, wedding breakfast and then finally their party where they danced the night away to their 1950's/60's styled band Jumpin Joe and the Dominoes.

Setting the Scene for a Fairtyale Wedding


One of the key things that always plays a potentially overlooked but important part of a wedding gallery is setting the scene. It helps to establish and tell the story of your wedding day by showing where it took place, the view you might of seen out the window as you got ready, the little details that greeted your guests as they sat down at the table or how the light fell on your venue that day.


Some of my favourite details from this particular wedding were the goblets with "Bride" and "Groom" engraved into them, used by Angeliques grandparents at their wedding many years ago and although they weren't able to be their they used the same goblets and now have the pictures to show to them after the wedding. It was such a personal and sentimental touch and it felt like a real honour to capture this as it is now part of a family tradition.


You can also see how we took the details and accessories and placed them within the different areas of the venue to tie everything together and create little pieces of art to tell their story. I love to do this usually without the bride and groom ever knowing about it so that when the gallery is delivered there's little surprises sprinkled throughout that they aren't expecting. I really had fun on this day placing Angeliques accessories onto the statues and using the mossy candleabra to hold her jewellery.

Getting ready & a few portraits pre-ceremony


Before the ceremony we documented the story of them getting ready aswell as a few portraits of the groomsmen and groom (as they always have more time to spare before the ceremony).

Wedding Ceremony in St Leonard's Chapel


Next was the ceremony and all I have to say about this one is spot the dog glowing in the sunlight under the benches, he also made a beautiful appearance glowing during the first kiss!

Confetti, Dogs & Group Photographs


I mean what more could you want, the sun is shining, your guests drinking Aperol Spritz, a whirlwind of confetti and your favourite little dogs watching it all happening!

Romantic, Fairytale Couple Portraits


Next up was the moment we got to create some beautiful fairytale magic in the form of couple portraits. It was an absolute dream with this stunning castle as the backdrop and Angelique really committed to the moment taking her shoes off to run through the grass to get the beautiful running shot of them!


We also followed this with a few beautiful portraits of our bride to match the ones of her husband that we took earlier in the day.
